Maker
: This beautiful cup and saucer set is by England's renowned ceramics firm Aynsley, which has been producing fabulous china in Staffordshire since 1775. Its beauty and striking pattern are evidence of the high quality the firm has always been known for.
Design
: The pattern features finely painted pink and purple flowers and green leaves against a pure white background encircled by a band of pink. The set is trimmed in gold.
A pattern number that appears to be 1281 is handwritten in gold on the cup's base. A green Aynsley back stamp is on both pieces.
Condition
: There are no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, stains, discoloration or significant wear. The cup's handle has been broken off and repaired. That's shown in the photo with the penny and it accounts for the low price.
The saucer is in excellent condition and could be used as a replacement for other Aynsley saucers in this color.
Size
: The cup is 2 1/4 inches tall and 3 5/8 inches wide at the opening. The saucer is 5 5/8 inches wide. The set weighs 9 ounces.
Despite the repair, this set remains very beautiful.
