    Description

On all the Yaks and the CJ6, the fixed ring on the front of the motor that receives the gill axles attaches via four studs.
These are the nuts that keep it there.
You'd need to remove them any time the gills assembly must be removed.
On a Houssai-engined CJ6 they are a breeze to remove or install, because of the engine's narrow gear reduction case. ( see second picture)
But the M14-P's front case is more bulbous, reflected in the complexity of its axle ring, where the four pick up studs are directly under the channel for the gill assembly's bearings.
Neither installation nor removal are pretty, and taking a chisel to these nuts is the most common removal aid, which is why yours may already be showing signs of distress.
TYC to the rescue with these repro 4140 chromoly nuts, drilled for .032" safety wire and protected with gold zinc plating.
Don't skip safety wiring these nuts because in this high vibration environment, if the nuts come loose the ring may move forward into the Prop arc.
