    Description

This is a brand new non-marring hammer. The head and handle are made from 100% recycled aluminum, cast by hand onto a hand-forged annealed steel rod. The cast aluminum is allowed to cool slowly, staying in a soft state. Each and every part of this hammer was manufactured from basic materials, to bring reliability and longevity.
I have used the J3-1 on many occasions to form soft aluminum sheets or reshape damaged parts. The head is perfect for this, as it can be sanded, filed, or even machined, to meet a specific contour or requirement. While working on dynamotors for WWII aircraft, I have often used this type of hammer to remove serious dents from end bells. I have used it to tap pins in and out of avionics equipment, loosen shafts, and as an aid while machining new cast parts. It's extremely versatile, and will last until the head is ground away, at which point I will accept a hammer to have the head recast new.
    Features:
    ~1" main face
~1/2" (0.5") secondary face for precise tapping
Soft cast head is non-marring for most steels and even hard aluminum
Handle arm made of steel for longevity and reliability
Easy to carry size, fits well in most rear pockets with head down
Impossible to separate head or handle from steel shaft
Easy to file or machine to fit your needs
Non-Toxic, as opposed to lead hammers
Softer than brass hammers which can cause damage easily
    Lightweight
Octagonal handle, straddled by rounds, gives a solid comfortable grip which will fit any hand
The head of this hammer has been tested to ensure it will deform properly when striking mild steels, and even hardened aluminum. When used with softer metals, such as lead, tin, silver, gold, soft copper, and any other material which is softer than the head, the head may not noticeably deform, instead forming the metal being struck.
The handle and head can be drilled, filed, or machined by hand with ease to customize the tool to your specific needs. To refurbish a deformed head back to a polished flat surface, all that is needed is a vice or clamp, a standard flat file, and high grit sandpaper.
    The designation 3-1 refers to
the rounded length of the head
    , and
the diameter of the main face
. See the drawing image (last image) for basic dimensions. Tolerance is plus or minus 0.15", although it is well within this tolerance.
See images for exact details of this particular hammer. This is the second hammer of this type ever produced. Made in Fort Collins, Colorado, U.S.A. Free shipping within USA, please send a message for pricing worldwide.
